Bridging the gap between systems and spontaneous volunteers
In every crisis, spontaneous volunteers arrive ready to help. When there’s no clear way to receive them, brief them, and task them, they can unintentionally disrupt routines, overload staff, and drain time from your core mission.
My role is to help you turn that pressure into managed capacity.
I’m Henrik Kjellmo Larsen, PhD in International Relations and author of research on spontaneous volunteerism. I’ve worked on both sides of this, in the field and in the system, and I translate that experience into practical operating routines.
The programme gives you a simple, usable model for engaging, managing, and supporting unaffiliated volunteers before, during, and after a crisis.

The result?
The programme gives you a simple, usable model for engaging, managing, and supporting unaffiliated volunteers before, during, and after a crisis.
You leave with:
-
a clear intake and triage flow (who comes in, where, and how)
-
defined roles and task boundaries that protect staff, volunteers, and affected people
-
briefing scripts, checklists, and templates you can run under pressure
-
a handover and documentation routine that reduces friction and repeated work
-
a realistic aftercare pathway and duty-of-care steps that fit your mandate
Let’s build it together.
